Hoti: Opposition does not, scandals can bring down Government

Former Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti considers it the worst economic situation since the post-war. According to him, the budget value for next year is lower than previous years, due to the high inflation rate. Hoti has said that the purchasing power of this budget is smaller than [...]

Hoti has said that the purchasing power of this budget is smaller compared to previous years' budgets.

Hoti has said that as a result of the government's inactions, the local economy lacks about 500m euros.

Although it says how opposition is impossible to bring down this government, LDK deputy says the same is the case with scandals and events happening in Kosovo.

I am convinced that there is no logic to properly develop position-opposital debate in a democratic country. In a democratic country, a political party gets civic support and other parties come out in opposition, and the latter is like Government overseer, and when regular elections come, it requires civic confidence. We're not in such a situation, we have to make sure this form of government is broken. Historically, if you see it, the opposition can never tear down Government, because it has no votes. Government reverses events, actions that take place. With these actions I don't see how this form of governance can be continued”, Hoti said, saying all sectors in the country are blocked.

He has also mentioned scandals that took place delays in the appointment of the minister of health and the strike in education.

It's never been as depressing as it is now. We are closing the year with the most difficult situation in the past 20 years, because we have been forced by the energy crisis and inflation, but that this Government has not taken any action to ease the economic crisis. Health has been nearly three months without a minister, taking place scandal after the scandal, the strike was interrupted in education, but it may begin again in January and the school year is not over by the end of January, because it has completely lost September”, Hoti said.

The LDK MP has said they will submit the Law for Public Officials to the Constitutional Court, as they consider it anti-competitive. The same is true of the Law of the Salaries.

The Public Officials Law will end up in the Constitutional Court, because we send it down and we're convinced that we take it down because there are a lot of provisions that are anti-controversial. I have conviction as far as I can speak of this law that some of the basic principles have not been taken into account, principles under which the Constitution has earlier overturned this law, which is the same salary for the same job of the pay gap between sectors and”, Hoti said.

The government's former chief says that as a result of low capital investments, 500m euros have been missed. He says the cause of the high inflation rate, the budget value for next year is lower compared to the previous years.

Any average, clear citizen leaves it more economist. An economist with two minds is clear that the 2023 budget is lower than the 2021 and 2020 budget. It's 3. 2 billion euros for 2023, but in real terms the purchasing power - how much you can buy goods and services with this budget - is no bigger than last year's budget than 2. 6 billion. So the budget has not increased, but has been reduced due to the high inflation rate”.

I have done a detailed analysis and today the Kosovo economy lacks minimum 500m euros, due to the government's inaction. Some of them are missing because capital investments have been stopped, which is a record of lowering in the last 20 years, and you have the next situation where oil prices and some major products have almost doubled that means we've collected twice the value added to those products, so there's a basis for our proposal that we've been giving since June to lower TVSh and temporarily leave the excise, and this would have provided the same revenue collection for the state budget as last year, but we would have had a few million euros in circulation in the year, but we would have a few million euros in a year's turnover for EO.
