US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill has said that it is time for those who have placed the barricades in northern Kosovo to remove them. In a recent interview, he has spoken on many issues, including the final agreement, forming the Association of Serb Majority Communities, and rumours that the QUINT has given ultimatum to Serbian President Alexander Vuciq, for removing the barricades.
Serbian media, Nova.rs, has published the full interview with Ambassador Hill following the statement that was reported yesterday about conditioning Patriarch Porfirije's visit to Kosovo.
I hope this doesn't happen again.
Association
The issue is very controversial. was also mentioned by the American ambassador in this interview. He reiterated the statement of the American emissary, Gabriel Escobar, that This is clearly going to happen.
“I hope it happens as soon as possible. ...For example, how the Association of Serb-run municipalities will function. Mr. Escobar clearly said this is going to happen, because it was agreed earlier and remains a condition. Now the question is not whether there will be an Association of Serb-run municipalities, but how it will work and how it will be implemented. ” he said.
Barricades
Hill says it's time for the <x0 people who have installed those barricades to remove the same”.
He has also been asked about reports of an ultimatum given by the QUINT to Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, which has denied happening.
I'm one of the ambassadors in Belgrade representing QUINT, but I don't know about any such ultimatum. You asked me what I think about the barricades, I said, I understand why they're set up, but I think it's time for those who set them up, to get away. ” ] Hill said.
What did the DAS and the EU say today?
The US State Department has issued a joint statement with the European Union about increasing tensions in the country's north.
This statement says that the EU with the United States is concerned about the ongoing tense situation in northern Kosovo.
They have called on the parties, as they say, to refrain from taking immediate action for actions that calm the situation.
“We are working with President Vuciq and Prime Minister Kurti to resolve political solutions so that the situation can be intensified and there is reconciliation for moving forward in the best possible stability, security and prosperity in local communities,” in this communique.
The US State and EU Department through their spokespersons have said they have received guarantees from the Kosovo leadership that there are no lists of Serbian citizens to be arrested or persecuted.
The communique also says that all obligations of dialogue should be implemented without any delay.
Dejan Pantiqi was replaced with a softer move by 30 days in detention today: home arrest. This greatly disturbed public opinion in Kosovo, with the power it is attacking judicial institutions.
And this communiqué seems to include such an issue. Here's what it says in one of her paragraphs:
“The United States would support the European Union's work through its mission to the Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX). Eulex, in line with its mandate, will continue to monitor closely all investigations and subsequent procedures to promote respect for human rights. That includes, in particular, guarantees for fair judgment, and equal treatment for all non-most communities in Kosovo. ”
