The ambassador at the public hearing of the Bill on Religious Freedoms added that more than a decade has urged Government to adopt changes to this law.
According to him, the most important comments in the Bill come from religious communities, adding that the US recommends removing any shortcomings.
I am honored to be with you in this public discussion on changing the Bill on Religious Freedoms. The most important comments will come from religious communities. That right included freedom that any human can change religion. The US is devoted to religious faith without obstacles. Free exercise of religion is more right to individual faith”.
The government here in Kosovo has requested the protection of freedom of religion through the Constitution of Law. In Kosovo we have stressed the lack of legal status. Over a decade, we have urged Government to approve the changes to religious freedoms. The US recommends removing any reference for the smallest number”.
“The US does not specify what constitutes a religious group, but the individual determines his own religious group. It is important to discuss the comprehensive issue on these legal issues. We are convinced that these changes will be resolved. The current law says the Government will maintain open dialogue with religious societies, and what we are doing is with that standard in that draft law”.
