As it says in a clarification of the prime minister's office, 20m euros have been earmarked for KEK, while another 17.5m euros have been earmarked for COST.
“The Ministry of Economy's request for the allocation of budgetary means for security of electricity supply and energy protection, worth 37,500000.00.00 (seven million and five hundred thousand euros), of which 20,000.00.000 ($120m euros) are earmarked for the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) with the case of setting up Public Service Obligation by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and 17,500,000 (seven million euros) for the Transit System and Market <1) payment to the European Network of Transmissions of Energy Systems, in January).
Tools under this decision are made by budgetary savings.
With this decision, the Government says it helps fulfill the obligation to help secure electricity management for the first quarter of 2023.
“This decision serves in the implementation of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo's decision, number 02/117 through which, based on public interest, the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), as public energy company, is imposed on public service to help secure electricity supply and avoid deviations to Kosovo's energy system, for January 1st, 2023 to March 15rd 2023 to 185 THE, when all the electricity supply requirements are not met. Under this obligation, KEK is obliged to import the lack of electricity when local generation capacity and import provided by other energy companies is insufficient to cover Kosovo's entire electricity demand”.
Meanwhile, COSTT has been earmarked for paying debts to the European Network.
“The decision simultaneously responds to the request with No.prot.1704, accepted by COST, for paying off debts to the European Network of Electric Energy Transmission Operators, as well as a request by the Ministry of Economy with No.prot. 3733”, said at the end of the notification
