German police have evacuated some people from a shopping mall and nearby town in Dresden today because of a still unclear situation where some people have allegedly been taken hostage.

On her website, Radio Dresden said that earlier an armed man had entered the offices of the Ammonofof building, where the radio station is located, about 8:30 a.m. at local time (07:30 GMT) and that there were gunshots.
Shortly after 11:30 (10:30 GMT) with local time, police confirmed that they were in contact with the author, who allegedly took two hostages at the Altmarkt-Galerie shopping centre, with a negotiating group in the country.
According to authorities, the husband is mentally ill.
Police confirmed that a 62-year-old woman had been found dead in an apartment building in Prohlis, Dresden this Saturday, and that her 40-year-old son was named as a suspect.
Police reportedly said that taking hostages at the mall was related to the murder, but refused to provide further details.
