Foreign Affairs Ministry employees in northern Macedonia have been evacuated on Thursday, following a threat to placing bombs that have been sent to the agency's electronic address.
After the search of specialised anti-terrorism teams of police forces has been found to be a false alarm”, the MPB report said.
This is the first alarm for placing bombs in a state institution since the introduction of this phenomenon on November 26th.
Since then dozens of high schools in Skopje and the shopping mall have received bomb threats, but all have proved false.
Bombing threats Monday have also been sent to the Public Transport Centre, to the “East Gate” and “Biser”, as well as the “Flat Iron” building.
Institution leaders have not yet managed to uncover the source of sending threats through electronic posts.
Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said it probably refers to <x0 cyberwar”, which, according to him, aims to intimidate citizens and destabilise the country.
He said institutions are in contact with the international community for help in coping with this phenomenon.
On December 5th, the Foreign Ministry in Skopje has filed criminal charges for the <x0-terrorism work” against the minor person, after he had admitted to the police that in October he has threatened four high schools with bombs.
Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski has stated that with this criminal indictment, the case has not become white with bomb alarms, as according to him, threats have come even from abroad, which he claims is about cyber attacks that can hardly be detected. /rel
