A Brazilian ship carrying more than 4.6 tonnes of cocaine worth more than 150m euros was seized last week by the French Navy near the Sierra Leone African country, Europol reported today.
Europol said the ship, which was headed for Europe, was seized on November 30th in a joint operation by France, Brazil, Great Britain and the US.
“The investigation is under way to determine which criminal parties are behind this case on both sides of the ocean”, Europol said.
European Union agencies warned in May that Europe has become a major centre for producing and sending cocaine to other regions of the world.
