Their replacement was enabled by the mission of rule of law in Kosovo, EULEX.
That's how they have confirmed from EULEX in an answer to Telegrafi. They have said they have been assisting in this, following a request they had from the Kosovo police.
After a formal request by the Kosovo Police on December 24th, E ULEX accompanied a convoy of Kosovo Police regular officers who were rotating and replaced regular police officers at the Leposaviq” police station, said EULEX's response.
It has been 16 days since Serb groups, barricades are placed on several roads north of Kosovo, thus rejecting the arrest of former police official Dejan Pantic.
A total of 11 barricades have been placed north of Kosovo. The increased presence of KFOR members is noted, in both directions of borders with Serbia.
Kosovo police have extended their checkpoints in the direction of Mitrovica-Leposaviq in order to prevent criminal activities, but thus ensuring free movement.
Members of the Kosovo Police are continuing their patrol even in areas with mixed populations in northern Mitrovica, providing order and security for all citizens indiscriminately.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has warned that after Christmas he will meet with KFOR commander to clarify how to deal with barricades in northern Kosovo.
At a media conference Saturday, Kurti said the government is waiting for KFOR to act, but “this cannot be tolerated indefinitely”, because these are not civil barricades, but “barricades of uniformed and armed people”.
