Following the application, named historical by signatories Vjosa Osmani, Albin Kurti and Glauk Konjufca, some EU member states have congratulated Kosovo on this application and have offered support.

Austria's Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, said applying for membership from Kosovo is a crucial step on the road towards European integration.

“A reliable EU perspective for the Western Balkans is one of the driving forces for stability and prosperity in the region. We continue to support you in your reform efforts!”, he wrote on Twitter.

Estonia Foreign Affairs Minister Urmas Reinsalou said his state is willing to support Kosovo on the road towards integration into the big European family.

Kosovo has submitted its EU membership application. Estonia is ready to support Kosovo on its path to the European Union”, Reinsalou has written.

Finland has also promised support for Kosovo. European Affairs Minister Titus Tupurainen has said Kosovo's commitment to European values is very important in these days.

“I am pleased to see Kosovo applying for EU membership today. You are part of our European family. Finland continues to support you in implementing reforms and processing integration. Your strong commitment to European values is especially important these days! ”, it declared.

Lithuania's Foreign Ministry also welcomed the application.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said they welcome Kosovo's application for the European Union.

Plenkovic, while congratulating President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has indicated that they will continue to offer support for Kosovo.

We welcome Kosovo's bid for membership in the European Union and wish them success on their European journey! We will continue to provide support and share Croatian experiences”, Plenkovic wrote.
