URACTIV, Periscope forward. The updated draft was introduced to the two sides shortly before the EU-Balkans Summit began. [...]
The updated draft was introduced to the two sides shortly before the start of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tirana, and there is now a expectation that the two sides will reach a final agreement in less than a year, an official said in the summit margins Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
After hearing from the two sides, we redred up the proposal, (...) and he's welcome”, the official said.
The proposal contains a “annex with a clear calendar of actions when and how things must happen”, he said.
There are many things that mark a big step forward, in relation to the current situation (...). There is no complete recognition (...), but there is complete normalisation of relations”, the official added.
Asked about the timeframe for possible implementation of the agreement, the EU official said that “while this would depend on the readiness of platforms”, he expects results “in much less than a year”.
After arriving at the EU Summit in Tirana, the chief of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, Confirmed to reporters that the two sides have accepted updated version and that he expects “serious differences”.
Serbia and Kosovo are committed to resolving disagreements through EU-mediated dialogue, but so far little progress has been noted.
Speaking to journalists, Borrell said the agreement on license plates “has created a new moment to advance towards normalisation in the following months”.
On the other hand, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq said they are committed to dialogue to lower tensions following verbal criticism that occurred last week between Vuciq and Prime Minister Kurti. /Periscopi/
