Asked about the expectations of this summit by Top Channel, EU Ambassador to Tirana Christiane Hohmann said:
I think that first is a very important message that the EU member states give to Western Balkan countries, but also to all who come here. For the first time this summit is held outside the European Union. It is an assessment of the role of the Western Balkans also for the European Union, for our stability, and especially in view of the geopolitical situation we are in, it is important to reiterate that we are together against Russia's illegal attack on Ukraine. This is a very strong message we will receive from this summit”, said Ambassador Christian Hohmann.
President Top Channel Muhamed Veliu reports that seven are the most fundamental issues to be discussed at the summit, where, as in past EU summits, the main word remains the conflict in Ukraine.
EU leaders in Tirana will also discuss the negative effects of the energy crisis in the Western Balkans, cyber attacks involving concern about increasing illegal migration towards EU countries.
