In the draft declaration, full support is given to the efforts of the EU high representative and special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Josep Borrell and Miroslav Lajcak, to mediate in dialogue and seek solutions.
From Kosovo and Serbia are expected to make concrete “progress towards a comprehensive and legally binding agreement for normalising relations” and the EU risks that it expects the “all past agreements to be fully respected and implemented without delay”.
“We urge both sides to engage constructively in resolving their bilateral disputes and to refrain from unilateral and provocative actions that could lead to tensions and violence and rhetoric that are not appropriate for dialogue”, the document says.
The EU reminds both sides that they share a “responsibility for ensuring peace and stability” and stresses that this is important for “stability and development of the entire region and ensuring the European path”.
