December 16th Prescribed Act on Salih Mustaf

The court in the case of Salih Mustaf in The Hague has set 16 December for declaring the case. “Today, on December 6, 2022, the Judicial Chamber I appointed the court's statement in the case against Salih Mustafa on December 16, 2022 at 09:00”, the announcement said.

Salih Mustafa's defense had demanded that he be acquitted of all charges the prosecution has filed on him, while the latter has demanded that Salih Mustaf sentence him to 35 years in prison.

And the defender of the victims has asked the court to order Mustafa to pay compensation to the victims allegedly in this case individually.

The court in the case of Mustafa is led by Judge Mapie Veldt-Foglia.

In this trial, 13 witnesses of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office have been heard, many of them protected and in closed or edited sessions.

And Salih Mustafa's defense has presented 15 witnesses.

At the start of this process, Salih Mustafa, against whom the charges weigh down with the war crimes claim, had been declared innocent before the court.

According to the Specialised Chambers “The confirmed indictment stipulates that approximately between April 1st 1999 and April 19, 1999, at a detention complex in Zlatko, Kosovo, arbitrary detention crimes, cruel treatment and torture against at least six persons” were committed. Also, in the indictment it is said that “in a date between April 19, 1999, or about this date, and about the end of April 1999, a banned “was killed at that location.

Salih Mustafa is staying in custody at The Hague from September 24th 2020, when he was arrested.
