Croatia's trade dynamic with the world continued in September at a twofold rate of export growth and imports, according to provisional data from State Statistics Ent (DZS).
In September, goods exports accelerated its growth to 65.1 percent annually from 48.5 percent in August, while imports slowed to 49.4 percent year-on-year from 73 percent last month, reports Seebiz.
In addition to recovery of domestic and external demand, the trend of the qualms of growth in imports and exports is the result of strong price increases in world markets, which even penetrate domestic prices.
In the January-September period, the quantum outlook, the value of exported goods amounted to 17.68 billion euros, which is an increase of 34.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2021.
On the other hand, the value of importing goods, worth 31.06 billion euros, has increased by 51.6 percent over nine months on an annual basis.
As a result, during nine months of 2022, the foreign trade deficit reached 13.39 billion euros. The coverage of imports with exports was 65.1 percent in September and 56.9 percent in the surveyed nine-month.
Croatia has exported 12.16 billion euros of goods to the European Union market in the January-September 2022 period, which is 68.8 percent of the total value of exports. This is a nominal increase of 36 percent on an annual basis.
At the same time, Croatian imports from the EU increased at an annual rate of 37.7 per cent to 21.67 billion euros (69.8 per cent of total imports), while the deficit in trade with the EU deepened to 9.5 billion euros, or almost 40 per cent. compared to the January-September 2021 period.
