The Express newspaper learns that it is expected to be discussed whether or not to postpone the elections scheduled to be held in the four northern Kosovo municipalities.

State leaders in Kosovo so far have said there are institutions that have offered conditions to hold elections in the four municipalities where the mayors have resigned.

Chief Prime Minister Glauk Konjufca said last night that the CEC will show President Vjosa Osmani what the situation is like, and then it goes on.

The “is the CEC, which shows what the situation is like on the ground, it reports to the President, and then the president calls political parties to the meeting and there as Vetevendosje shows our position. There the elections can be held, with the Special Police Unit held and nothing happens, no one can do anything”, Konjufca said.

US officials have sought to postpone announced elections on December 18th in the municipality of Zvecan, Leposaviqi, North Mitrovica and Zubin Potok. US Ambassador Jeff Havenier has said there are no conditions to hold these elections, following the tension of the situation in the north. German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde has also agreed.

Recent days have begun incidents in the country's north. On December 6th, municipal election commission offices were attacked by dangerous means, including hand grenades, as police accompanied election officials to these offices in northern Mitrovica and Zubin Potok. The incidents have continued for the next three days.

Since last night, Kosovo police have increased their presence in the northern part of the country. On Thursday, about 11:00 p.m., a police officer was wounded after an attack by armed men in the north.
