Former Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has reacted after recent tensions in northern Kosovo, warning that the tense situation could continue in the coming days, as Prime Minister Albin Kurti has warned that Kosovo will apply for membership in the European Union before Christmas.
“Criza is erupting again in northern Kosovo. Things will also heat up as Kosovo aims to hand over the app to the European Union in the coming days”, the Swedish diplomat wrote on Twitter.
However, before that application moves everywhere, there are agreements that must be respected and difficult steps” should be taken, he added.
Otherwise, in northern Kosovo Serbs have placed barricades in the village of Rudare of Zvecan in protest of former Kosovo Police Part Dejan Pantic's arrest.
Tensions have increased since December 6th, when the offices of the Municipal Election Commission in Northern Mitrovica and Zubin Potok were damaged.
Since then, in the majority Serb municipalities, there have been shootings of firearms, grenade launchers and bombs, while during the patrol, a police official was easily injured during an attack on Zvecan on December 8th.
