Today, I have been hosting KFOR Deputy Commander Brigadier General Josef Szplylic and Monitoring Team Chief Carol Kovac, with whom we talked about the security situation in the Podujevo municipality and at the country level.
During the meeting, I expressed my concern about the barricades erected in the north of the country and the blocking of the border checkpoints at Merdar, which are blocking the free movement of citizens and violating overall security in the country.
KFOR deputy commander General Szplysik said that under the KFOR mission, providing security for Kosovo citizens, freedom of movement and creating a safe and secure environment for all are their mandated duty, which in co-ordination with Kosovo state institutions will fulfill their mission.
On behalf of the Podujevo municipality, I thanked the deputy commander for the excellent cooperation we have with KFOR troops in the Podujevo municipality. As well as border municipalities, we have regular meetings and close co-operation in different spheres.
We agreed that the good cooperation we have to cultivate and deepen further in the interest of all citizens.
