On December 9th, Foreign Minister James Cleverly announced the measures taken as part of a new wave of sanctions targeting corrupt individuals and those who violate and abuse human rights, as well as the perpetrators of sexual violence in conflicts.
This wave of sanctions, in co-ordination with international partners, is a contribution to International Anti-Corruption Day and Human Rights Day.
In the package of sanctions are individuals and subjects involved in a wide range of serious activities including torture of prisoners, mobilizing troops for the rape of civilians and systematic atrocities.
“These sanctions show the commitment of the United Kingdom to protecting free societies and human rights of all, anywhere”, the British Government said.
