You know that in the last few days we have had many tensions in northern Kosovo. I have sent our special representative Miroslav Lajcak to Pristina and Belgrade. I'll meet the leaders for the situation and try to calm the situation and get back into dialogue. This is the only way to ensure the European future of Kosovo and Serbia”, the Spanish diplomat said before today's meeting.
He stressed that it is of absolute importance to stop the riots, remove the barricades, return calm and discussion, as he said, “for the proposal we have put on the table to find a permanent and consistent solution to tensions between Pristina and Belgrade.
Borell also announced that leaders are expected to confirm Bosnia and Herzegovina's candidate status.
This should be a good opportunity for BiH leaders to work in reforms,” said Borell and added that this is a very important step for that country and the entire region.
EU leaders will meet today in Brussels, where they will discuss war in Ukraine, issues related to energy and the economy, security, defence, foreign relations.
