She claims someone should resign after her murder one day before becoming a mother. Balje adds that for this occasion someone is guilty and the state has fallen from the exam.
In the interview for Kosovo, MP Duda Balje says that in two lives lost, the entire justice system has failed.
From the moment the woman went and reported the case to the police, until the time of the murder, we completely failed the entire system. Even we as MPs should ask the questions about where we are guilty, each of us should ask who is guilty and arrange for something to happen again. We're in the final phase of the Family Violence Protection Law. We've passed the law on the Commission for Human Rights, and it's already in the final phase before the vote in the Assembly. He went to the government, we got very good comments. After the first and second votes in the Assembly, we will come up with a much more radical law and where we've tried to correct the defect we've detected in the system that's active”, she says.
For the handover, Balje has sought eternal punishment.
“I think as an MP and my personal opinion is that the eternal punishment is questioned whether it is enough, but certainly it has to happen, of course”, she says.
Furthermore, resignations from responsible ones would be a good message, adding that someone is guilty.
If this happened, it would give a very good message. If you're not on the level to make correction, you may not have the ability to do that right to the end. Now who should resign is a question. But if we can detect the person or groups of persons who are responsible, I think yes... now is the minister directly responsible, but someone is guilty even when we can detect who he is, then to complete the moral side must resign”, she adds.
MP Duda Balje, who heads the Commission for Human Rights, says she expects the new year to begin implementing the new Law on Protection from Family Violence.
“We are responsible for the law and is in the final phase. I am sure that after the New Year the law will be functional and implemented. We as legislatures can even talk to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Justice Ministry and we can at the local level. We have work to detect where the biggest mistake is and know what to do”, Balje points out.
Last night a man was suspected to have killed her former pregnant spouse in front of the Gynecology Clinic. She was expected today to bring the child to life, while the same was warranted for protection. The person allegedly killed 35-year-old is still on the run, meanwhile, Kosovo Police have asked citizens for information that can help arrest the suspect.
