Angelina Jolie has left her role as ambassador of the UN refugee agency.
The winning Oscar award actress said refugees are the people who admire them most in the world and that it will now focus its time working with organisations led by people directly affected by the conflict.
47-year-old Jolie is known for her activism. She worked with the U. NHCR has been appointed special envoy since 2001 and in 2012.
Writing in the Instagram, Jolie said that she would spend the rest of her life working with refugees.
After more than 20 years, today I am leaving my job with the UN refugee agency,” she wrote.
In a joint statement with Jolie, U n The NHCR praised her for her unspoiled work on more than 60 field missions in countries, including Yemen and Burkina Fason, and described her as one of the most influential supporters of refugee rights.
