On Thursday evening, the Serbian government will apply to KFOR for the return of the Serbian Army to Kosovo. Two days earlier, US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar had flatly denied that such a thing could happen, saying that “Kosovo has strong security guarantees from the US”.
Of course, Serbia's government has a right to address KFOR. But this is a matter that remains political and therefore requires a political solution. I don't see the possibility of a military solution”, Hill said.
What needs to be done, according to the American ambassador, is “to calm the situation and create peace and stability in that area”.
And that the people who live there can have clear expectations of what their life will be like in the future, and this can be achieved through the establishment of the Association”, Hill stressed.
