The situation in northern Kosovo is still tense.
Nine barricades imposed for nearly two weeks near the Jarinje border point and Brnjak have further exacerbated the security situation.
In this regard, NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, Stuart Munsch, has declared that KFOR is closely monitoring the situation in northern Kosovo and that it is willing to provide a safe and free environment for all communities throughout Kosovo, in line with a mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
“Since October we have increased our presence, among other things, by increasing forces as well as patrols north of Kosovo this week. We expect all actors to be in close co-ordination with KFOR and refrain from provocative force demonstrations to preserve the safety of all communities”, he said.
In addition, Munsch called on all sides to act constructively, to ensure the security and freedom of movement in Kosovo.
Unlike organised crime groups of Serbs in the north, they have repeatedly provoked citizens in Mitrovica and Kosovo police officials as well.
These situations created in the north of the country have caused since the United States of America but also the European Union to constantly require that Kosovo and Serbia resolve any situation through dialogue.
