26 years for Calin, but see how less top Serbian officials were convicted of crimes in Kosovo

Former Kosovo Liberation Army Commander Salih Mustafa has been sentenced today by the Special Court to headquarters in The Hague to 26 years in prison for unlawful murder, arbitrary detention and torture. This is the highest sentence ever pronounced for war crimes against Albanians. However, such a high sentence was not suffered [...]

The Act charged Mustafa with individual criminal responsibility and criminal responsibility as a superior for crimes committed by several KLA members against persons detained at the Zlach detention complex in Kosovo's Gollak region. According to the indictment, roughly between April 1st 1999 and about the end of April 1999, Salih Mustafa and several KLA soldiers, policemen and guards shared the common purpose of questioning and mistreatment of detainees at the Zlach detention complex, writes Periscopi.

The Serb victim Mustafa was charged with was alleged to have been killed by the Serbian Army, but held by commander CHACalı.

Mustafa himself has been declared innocent until, on one occasion, the court has considered the Gestapo <x0); Gestapo' <x0).18x1> -- reference to the secret police service in Nazi Germany's time.

But for major war crimes in Kosovo, only six former Yugoslav officials have so far been sentenced by The Hague Tribunal. The greatest punishment they have been given is up to 22 years in prison, despite the major crime rate.

Their sentences were as follows:

- The prime minister of Yugoslavia during the war in Kosovo, Nikola Shainovic, 22 years in prison.

The same, after the Court of Appeals' decision, the sentence was reduced to only 18 years and after serving two thirds of the sentence was released for good conduct. So 12 years in total.

Chief of Yugoslavia's Third Army, Nebojsa Pavkovic, 22 years in prison.

- Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia ( MUP for Kosovo, Sreten Lukic 20 years in prison

-Mr. Internal Affairs Minister Vlastimir Djordjevic 18 years in prison.

- Yugoslav Army Chief of General Staff in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo Dragoljub Ojdanic, 15 years in prison.

- Yugoslavia's Army Forces Commander in Pristina Vladimir Lazarevich 14 years in prison..

We remember Mustafa was arrested and then transferred to the Special Court detention unit on September 24, 2020.

The trial was launched on September 15, 2021, and 29 witnesses from the Specialised Prosecutor's Office and 15 of the defence were involved.

It includes eight victims who have given their testimony.

Former Specialised Prosecutor Jack Smith said months ago that in Mustafa's case, all victims are Kosovo Albanians./ P ERISCOPI/
