Kosovo police have indicated that 2 thousand and 273 cases of domestic violence were reported by October of this year.
In an answer to the EO, police have clarified that from this number of 1000 and 897, they are female victims and 433 men.
While the Centre for Social Affairs in Pristina has denied accusations of lack of work and responses in cases of domestic violence.
The director of this centre, Webi Mujku, has shown that there is no room for charges because, as he said, they work continuously and even are the first to appear in any case.
There's never a place at the Centre for Social Work on charges of non-work or failure, because we're the first to come out in each case. We have it booked and we have contracts with the cab service, which at any time, take us within five minutes to the police, we have a 24-x1> maintenance worker, Mujku said.
On the other hand, he went on to say that the QPS co-operates with all institutions and that with police they have key co-operation.
“We co-operate with all institutions, key co-operation is with the Kosovo Police because we intervene from the start”, he added.
Mujku told of the shelter of domestic violence victims, where he said it is full of most of the time and that they have renovated it last year.
“The shelter has conditions, at the moment we have renovated the shelter last year, created extremely good conditions, but we want to have as few cases in shelters as possible, but unfortunately the shelter is almost all the time with full capacity”, he stressed. /EO
