Today is the 15th day since local Serbs placed barricades in the streets, in protest of the arrest of former police officer Dejan Pantic. Since December 10th, Serbs in the north have begun deploying trucks and heavy machinery, which day-to-day strengthened them.
Their removal called for America and the EU, but KFOR has not yet made the decision to intervene, but has sought solutions through dialogue.
This thing has been criticised by two VV deputies.
Adnan Rrustemi and Arba Abashi have said it has become 14 days, while KFOR asked for only a short time.
“KFOR required little time to remove barricades, meanwhile today when it took 14 days, says to resolve this issue with dialogue. How this happened recently to remove the barricades to negotiate with crime and criminal and armed gangs”, Abrashi wrote yesterday.
While, Rrustemi said removing the barricades could also do Kosovo Police.
These statements and reactions are really becoming unacceptable and are exceeding any expectations. Order and law must prevail. Crime and lawlessness cannot be negotiated. Barricades should be removed as soon as possible, and the Kosovo Police have all the capacities to do so”, the Facebook Rrustem wrote.
That Kosovo police can remove these barricades, Interior Minister Jedal Svecla has said. He at a media conference Thursday said he is waiting for KFOR's commitment to remove the barricades.
“They [ KFOR has been seeking a time for them themselves to make the removal of the barricades. We are now waiting for their commitment to make. But after 13 days and we have police trapped in Jarinje and Brnjak, the days being counted, it's coming to an end. I believe KFOR and the international factor are engaged to do so as soon as possible. But for the sake of greater stability, we are expecting this to be done by those who have established barricades or KFOR themselves. But the wait is at its end”, Svechla said.
While yesterday for the situation created in the north, KFOR Commander Angelo Michele Ristuccia has reacted.
It is important that all involved avoid any rhetoric or action that can cause tensions and escalate the situation. We expect all actors to refrain from provocative displays of force and seek the best solution to ensure the safety of all communities. We encourage all sides to help the security and freedom of movement in Kosovo and to prevent fraudulent narratites from influencing the dialogue process. ”
