Zoran Vukotic sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual violence during Kosovo war

Following the decision to be sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime of sexual violence during the war taken on July 5th 2021 by the Pristina Constitutional Court against Zoran Vukotic, due to the preamble of the complaint at the Court of Appeals, the case was turned into a serial trial, and today Vukotic was found guilty of sexual violence crime during the fight against the Albanian victim.

According to a statement by the Pristina Foundation Court, the decision made in 2021 was a turning point for survivors of sexual violence in Kosovo, restoring confidence in the institutions of justice and hoping for the condemnation of persons responsible for sex crimes during the war.
And today's confirmation of the same decision further strengthens this trust that is being built through the courage of survivors who have presented their cases to the prosecutor and dedication of institutions of justice to the end of the justice process in the country.

This decision conveys the message that sexual violence crimes are neither forgotten nor pardoned, but regardless of the past time and attempts to evade justice, it will sooner or later be achieved and will be firm. The path of justice which has been opened with this decision is ongoing and will be unstoppable, and we all expect justice to be achieved for other cases in the process, ending the impunity that has so far dominated” is said in the statement.

Among other things, the Court invites relevant institutions to continue pursuing justice with the same commitment and professionalism so that justice is put in place for survivors of sexual violence during the Kosovo war
