Her speech, of the Minister of Justice and the Ombudsman, began with condolences for families and calls for justice on the part of authorities.

The country's president, Vjosa Osmani, has said the latest case of killing a woman today has shocked society that gender-based violence phenomenon remains a presence in the family.

Today, we all received some horrible news early in the morning. A man killed his wife in the macabre way, alerting all of us that gender-based violence phenomenon remains extremely present in our society. At this moment we share the pain and express sincere condolences for the lost life of our fellow city”, she has declared.

Osman has even called violence on gender grounds, where he said it remains one of the most flagrant violations of human rights.

“There can no longer be tolerance for judges and negligent prosecutors because there can be no compromise or extenuating circumstances in the face of crime, there can be no consensus for offenders because for consensus violence there is no”.

“We will no longer accept arguments for lack of capacity because in the face of a national emergency such as gender-based violence must contend with any resources and any capacity we have available”, the president has added.

Furthermore, at the opening of the global campaign, she has said fighting violence on gender grounds will be at the helm of the council's agenda for democracy and human rights near its office.

Osmani has also called on all victims to report cases of violence, but has said institutions should provide security to them.

Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has also sought justice in the case of the woman's murder by Pristina.

I cannot continue my word without expressing my condolences for the family of the woman killed in Pristina today. It is a woman who has been killed by her husband, even an event that shocked all of us, that makes each of us in the roles and responsibilities that we have to continue our work even more - and more - that we never hear such cases again, not one more. While, from here we seek justice even for the woman killed today in Pristina, as for all other victims of”, Haxhiu has said.

Minister Haxhiu has demanded that justice institutions act in the pursuit of cases of violence.

“Against violence against women we must all be unanimously, we cannot allow violence in front of our eyes, we cannot allow them to break the rights of girls and women, and justice is threatened. Institutions exist for citizens and are guarantors of the functioning of a civilized society. Law institutions, though unfortunately not here tonight have an essential role in civic life and must act by addressing each case and seriously”.

Until we do this, we will continue to speak without end and aloud with the intent of full civil awareness to condemn and reject violence against another, and not only under this campaign”, Haxhiu said.

Friday afternoon, Haxhiu has said that if institutions fail to act, the state fails to offer protection to the victims.

The ombudsman has called on authorities to clarify the details of the woman's murder by Pristina as soon as possible.

In this year, many cases of violence against girls and women, worrying has been the large number of cases of sexual rape of girls and minors. Women and girls in Kosovo are facing violence on gender grounds, this increases the institutional responsibility to change this reality we all have responsibility to act in this serious situation, all indiscriminately”.

This gathering and what will be held in the coming days should influence society and institutions to reflect and react against discrimination and violence against women”, Naim Celaj has concluded.

The global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Base Violence” will be completed by December 10th. / KP/
