Mrs. Eriola Biball-General Director and Mr. Visar Pacharada, a member of the ProCredit Bank management board, welcomed German Ambassador Mr. Joern Rohde, Mrs. Artane Rizvanolli-Minist of Economy and Mrs. Nora Hasani from the German-Kosovo Economic Oda. This visit was organized in the solar park 3 MW, which is in the final phase of construction and is located in the village of Old Grack.
Through ProEnergy LLC (PP), this solar park comes as a German investment by ProCredit Holding, the euro company of ProCredit Bank, thus pointing to its orientation towards sustainable economic development in the country and commitment to reduce CO2 and help combat global warming.
ProEnergy intends to apply for “Gold Standard” of the project by quantifying the amount of clean and green energy that will be generated on Kosovo's network.
The expected emissions reduction from this solar park will be around 3,700 tCO2/year. ProCredit Holding will use the C02 avoided emissions from this project to compensate for C02 emissions resulting from daily banking operations by the banking group. By reducing CO2 emissions, the project will contribute to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ZHQ 13 (Climatic Actions) and generation of 3,94 3 The MWh/year of pure electricity will contribute O ZHQ 7 (resistable and clean energy).
“Konsum of electricity is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. In our case, this contribution is connected to the bank's daily activities, but it also connects to the source of electricity, which in most countries where we operate is coal. Therefore, to further improve environmental performance through reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GS) and to achieve the medium-term goal of becoming a neutral carbon institution, the main shareholder of the ProCredit Holding Group has taken the initiative to invest in a solar project in Kosovo. The reason why Kosovo has been selected for this investment is the fact that Kosovo has a more polluted energy climate in Europe and faces a lack of energy supply, while experiencing the need for energy consumption growth. A logical step would be for Kosovo to speed up the energy transition towards flexible and green sources.
Projects like this one in a country where such initiatives are still quite rare, we consider they will serve as a positive example and contribute to the country's overall development” said Mrs. Eriola Biball-General Director of ProCredit Bank.
Ambassador Rohde stated that “The electricity that will be produced by this entirely German investment will be supplied via the network and used for self-consuming for the ProCredit Bank in Kosovo and its partner companies, while surplus electricity will be sold KESCO with the fee we will agree on. This project shows not only the commitment of the ProCrede Bank to reduce the greenhouse gas show to help fight against global warming, but comes at a time of global energy crisis, is highly valued and very needed.
The transition of energy and designation of the energy sector will inevitably be a priority for all our governments in the foreseeable future”.
Our “Vision is to have a clean energy sector, but also a sector that is more democratic and decentralised, with consumers in its centre as active participants.
Solar Park 3 ProCredit's MW, which we have visited today with German Ambassador Jörn Rohde, is an excellent example of this” vision, said Minister Rizvanolli.
Solar ProEnergy Park is scheduled to be finalised during December 2022 and is expected to have life expectancy for about 30 years.
