Says Z. RISES: The current is expected to be expensive again

The power supply seems to be the inevitable option this year. Following the warning of Economy Minister Artane Rizvanol, of increasing tariffs, this has been said by the Energy Regulatory Office. Demands for increased tariffs have yet to be submitted, but by the ZRRE say rising energy purchase costs must [...]

Still a year from the entry into force of expensive tariffs, the current is expected to be expensive again for Kosovars during the winter. In this period, the need for import increases, as local capacities do not cover needs for the entire country.

Energy extension has warned Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli during reporting to the Energy Stability Commission.

According to Rizvanol, as a result of good weather at this time and lowering demand for electricity, the electricity price in international markets has marked significant declines, but added that the possibility of rising prices again is not ruled out with weather cooling during the winter.

For this warning from the Ministry, they have been declared by the Energy Regulatory Office.

The RER has said that they have yet to accept any demands for increased tariffs, but sėrest have ruled out the possibility of costing energy.

Petit Pepaj from this institution has said that since energy purchase costs have had continued growth, this should be reflected in tariffs.

The Energy Regulatory Office has yet to accept applications from licensed COSTT, KEDS and KESCO, dealing with the allowed Maksimal entry and tariffs for 2023.

Over the course of this year, energy purchase costs have been growing steadily, these costs above the level allowed for the year should be reflected in tariffs whenever the tariff adaptation process occurs, therefore it can also be expected of increased tariffs”, Pepaj has declared for Gazeta Express.

States that rejected Kosovo for long-term energy import contracts

Kosovo needs energy imports during the winter. But even import can cause problems. Since the state has managed to sign long-term import contracts, unless it has to buy the electricity at very expensive price, it will also be a problem to ensure that all states are in need of it.

Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi indicated three weeks ago that they have attempted to link long-term energy import contracts with four states but that have refused.

The states under which these contracts have been attempted are Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece and Denmark.

The measures that some think about making long-term contracts are without no state being able to sign long-term contracts. Because even those who have energy are not fools. Why do they make the long-term contract at 180 euros, when the price is 1,000 euros per hour. We've been trying with Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, and we've tried Denmark. Everyone says we're seeing it, measure says not only exchange”, Bislimi declared at ATV.

Bislimi said Kosovo is facing the energy crisis because of huge capacities. In their situation, it says that at any minute a tube can burst.

And we have the crisis because we have the huge capacities, in which literally hundreds of millions of investments have entered. And then I get investments as nominally, they're supposed to be brand new. There's a tube in there every minute, because it says this tube is affected by 1970. This is the situation with existing capacities. Even if trained, the existing capacity cannot change within 5 years”, Bislimi said.

Otherwise, Kosovo's electricity needs exceed production capacities, especially during the winter.

Kosovo has the capacity to produce about 800 megawatts per hour, while its needs -- in winter days -- reach up to 1,300 megawatts per hour. That difference, it usually imports from outside.

Given the statistics of institutions in Kosovo, households are the main suppliers of the total electricity produced in the country. /
