Through a video distributed today in the media, it is seen that some of the nurses employed in this nursing center violate and exploit an elderly woman. Besides, other nurses at no time interfere but support their colleague by shooting and laughing.
RGK through this reaction requires the Health Ministry to remove licenses from all the nurses involved. Also, RGK asks the Health Ministry to remove the centre's operating license “Orenda”, as it is seen that, according to the last case, mistreatment of elderly persons occurs at this center. In addition, RGK invites the Kosovo Police to act with full responsibility by arresting all the nurses present and inviting all other justice bodies to investigate the case with full responsibility and for the nurses who resort to violence to receive merit punishment.
According to the Republic of Kosovo Penal Code Article 184 “when the criminal act is committed to the sensitive victim [...] the chief is sentenced to: imprisonment of up to three (3) for criminal work or imprisonment of one (1) to three (3) years”. In addition, KKPC Article 195, “Official Person who by misusing his duty or authorisations mistreats him, scares or insults the other person's dignity, is sentenced to jail for up to three (3) years in prison”.
RGK calls for the elderly victim to have a focused approach to the victim during work and for the same to receive needed and appropriate assistance.
Also, RGK will monitor institutions' response to this case and remains open to co-operation and assistance for victims of violence through free legal counseling and reference to relevant institutions. If you need free legal assistance for cases of violence, or you know someone who needs it, contact us at the number 038 245 850.
