Moscow blocked the UN-brokered agreement, claiming Ukraine was using the Black Sea security corridor to attack its fleet, the BBC writes.
On the other hand, the UN said there were no ships inside the corridor that night, while Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the agreement should be respected until he accused Russia of “uriginating the world with hunger”, the claim Russia denied.
Despite the consequences, 12 ships containing 354,500 tonnes of food, including wheat, left Ukraine's Black Sea ports on Monday, Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry said.
This minister added that one of the ships carrying 40,000 tonnes of grain was destined for Ethiopia, where there was “the actual possibility of massive hunger”.
