Private sector next week protest, Murati: No additions, let's raise businesses

Kosovo's government, respectively, remains expected not to share additions only to private sector workers. The executive with the last package for confronting inflation has envisioned the sharing of additional details for public sector workers by 50 euros from September, of public enterprises with 100 euros [...]
Finance, Labour and Transfers Minister Iron Murati stressed that they will not share additional means directly for private sector workers, but, as he said, he would support employers to increase the salaries of the sector's workers.
According to Murati, corporate and business profits are higher than ever, and for this reason he said there is room for companies to increase wages for workers in the private sector.
However, he said some measures from the deal on inflation have begun to be implemented, and soon supplements for students and then for public enterprise workers will be addressed.
“Masses are being implemented, normally not all for once or for a month are implemented. So there's a sequence just like the April package. Currently, application form is open to students, very soon we will address additions to public enterprise workers and other categories. As for the private sector, what we wanted to do as a government was to make sure there is a permanent increase in public sector wages. So we support employers to raise their salaries constantly. Because we as governments have given support, but it has been a month. So in the private sector, the salary increase should come from the employer. And this employers have space, we see it from the traffic level even from corporate profit tax collection. Corporation profits are higher than ever, so there's room for private sector companies to increase wages. And we as governments will insist on this”, Murati said.
At a media conference along with the IMF mission, Murati went on to ask companies “not only to increase their profit margins, but to share it with workers”.
The “calls once again on private companies to seize the opportunity the government offers to support the first three months of salary growth, in order to increase wages in the private sector, because there is space. As a government we have supported the private sector and businesses to cope with rising electricity prices. As a government, we have allocated a 100m-euro subsidy to prevent the tariff from rising unaffordable. We have sustained the private sector on a continuous basis, and we expect that even these companies will not take the opportunity only to increase their profit margins as they have done so far, but that some of that profits will be shared with those who allow them this profit, with workers in this case”, he said.
Although for implementation of the measure for support of a 50 - percent salary increase, Murati did not show how many companies have applied and for how many workers.
While, two days ago the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kosovo has asked the government to share additions from 200 euros to private sector workers. The private sector union is also seeking additional support for the sector's workers.
