The president of the United States, Joe Biden, also informed allies during the day that the fall of the missile in Poland was a result of Ukraine's air defence.
The rocket that fell in a Polish village on the Ukrainian border left two people dead. Poland and NATO members were cautious in their reactions immediately after the first reports, until a complete investigation was completed.
