The United States has closely monitored the possible use of chemical weapons in Ukraine and has called for allies to be prepared for such an event.
No intelligence source claims a chemical attack in Ukraine is inevitable, officials said.
Instead, fighting is expected to slow down during the winter months.
But officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Russia could attempt to use chemical weapons that are easily concealed and that it may be harder to blame Moscow.
Officials and experts told the newspaper that several weapons could be used for mass attacks by placing them in the spray or in ammunition. /Periscopi/
