Today from 6:00 today, the Kosovo Police are without command in the north. There the North Regional Directorate has decided to stop carrying out the orders of the Kosovo Central Police Directorate. This was made open through a media conference by the North Regional Commander with his hyerarchy, as far as Igor Sivuri, deputy head of the Serbian List, has had his arm.
Kosovo police in the Northern Region cannot implement the decision to reregister Serbia's license plates in the RKS, the director of the Regional Police Directorate for the Northern Region, Nenad Djuric, has announced today.
He addressed the media selected in front of the municipality building in northern Mitrovica, in the presence of the mayor of the municipality from the north and the Northern region's police leadership.
Djuric has confirmed today that the Kosovo Government's decision to reregister vehicles has also been sent to the North Regional Directorate for completion.
On the other hand, he said that in the past period, they have let the Police General Directorate in Pristina and all international political and security officials in Kosovo know that police officers from the North region cannot implement that decision.
It is political and primarily directed against the Serb community we belong to and share our concerns about all unilateral actions”.
Djuric also said that today street police patrols from Pristina have been sent by the General Directorate of Police in northern Kosovo in order to put <x0 pressure on our police officers to carry out the required actions, which have to do with the remarks to drivers with KM”.
We want to stress that the patrols mentioned by Pristina have been sent to northern Kosovo without the knowledge and approval of the North Police Regional Directorate. Also, in the past we have pointed to the General Police Directorate in Pristina and the international community for the presence of special police units and the establishment of bases in our area of responsibility, even without our knowledge and approval, which with their activities bring fear and unrest to people living here”, Djuric said.
He claims these “actions directly underestimate and marginalise” the role of the North Regional Directorate.
He says that police officers from this region are there to protect and serve the people, regardless of nationality and religion.
“We stand for full respect of the Brussels Agreement, under which our competencies are clearly defined”, Djuric stressed.
The Kosovo Police Central Directorate has so far disclosed nothing about Djuric's claims of sending traffic patrols from Pristina to the north, nor about claims that North region police will not implement the decision to reregister.
