Release of this missile comes after early this month, Phenjan broke the record regarding the number of deployed missiles.
The launch of the ballistic missile came as votes for the Muslim elections are being counted in the United States, respectively, for control of the House of Representatives and Senate. Earlier, Seoul's spying agency had warned that during the American elections, the northeastern leader, Kim Jong Un, could conduct a nuclear test.
Seoul's army said it has “dated the release of a medium-range ballistic missile from North Korea to the Eastern Sea”. The rocket, according to South Korea, was launched by the South Pyongyang province of North Korea about 3:31 p.m.
“Strengthening surveillance and vigilance, the South Korean Army is fully prepared, while closely co-operating with the United States”, it was said in the military's announcement.
Japan has also confirmed the launch of a missile from the North.
Earlier this month, North Korea conducted a series of tests, including the release of an interccircular ballistic missile.
Phenjan has launched a long-range ballistic missile that has crossed the South Korean de-naval border. This was the first time North Korea launched missiles in the South since the end of the Korean War in 1953. / REL/
