This phase envisions fines of 150 euros for those moving with illegal license plates on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
Disgusted with the government's decision, Serbian officials launched resignations from Kosovo institutions.
Security acquaintances in the country are alarmed by a possible transition of the situation with the entry into force of the second phase of the government's decision.
And for the situation that was created in northern Mitrovica, FrontOnline, former South Mitrovica Chairman Avni Kastrati has spoken.
He said the situation is tense and that he does not expect the decision will be implemented by the 21st, as he said Kurti would change the decision.
This situation is very tense. I think the government didn't have to do what it did, it had to listen to the US recommendation, and I'm pretty sure that on the 21st date it was scheduled to not come up to implement the fines that again I think the government has changed the decision in part”, Kastrati said.
But if Government does not change the decision, Kastrati sees its implementation as impossible.
According to him, no electricity will be paid or fines.
Even if the decision is to start to be implemented technically there is no way, those who are going to think it better in days than when fines are put together should be paid, if the current is not paid where the fine will be paid, this is a game of words that the Government is thinking of doing something or better to say realistically something but it doesn't really have to be able to realistically”, said former Mitrovica chairman.
The former head of the South Mitrovica municipality, from the PDK ranks, said Serbia would try to destabilise the situation during this time.
“Of course Serbia through its satellites in northern Mitrovica will try to make trouble”, Kastrati said.
But for that not to happen, he said the government should modify the decision with US and EU proposals.
“I think our government should change its stance and implement the decision of the US and the EU, not until the fine, but simply the decision the Government has made to modify the decision to change the license plates in 10 months' time, as recommended by the US<1>, he said.
The Kosovo government has started implementing the Targa decision on November 1st.
The first phase of the plan envisions the rebuke of drivers who drive cars with illegal license plates; the second envisions fines of 150 euros, while profty plates will be distributed in the third.
With this plan, it is expected that as of April 21st next year, only RKS vehicles will be allowed in communications.
