Merro Base to Periscope: Kosovo suffering Albin Kurti's need for war

Although the meeting lasted eight hours between Kurti and Vuciqi, it did not bring any positive results for normalising relations, even after the end of this meeting, European top diplomat Joseph Borrell addressed Kosovo, where Kosovo said lack of respect, and that it would inform partners of that. And this eight-hour meeting, Mero Base, calls it a drama, where it puts the emphasis on Prime Minister Kurti, who says he is treating the EU, Great Britain and the US as Serbia's allies.

How did you comment yesterday's meeting of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's Aleksandar Vuciq in Brussels, where he ended up failing to reach an agreement on license plates, and how are you looking at Kurt's policy in dialogue?

The failure of a round of talks is not a big drama as if it were not intended. What happened yesterday in Brussels was not the failure of a round of talks, but the first step of a political goal of Albin Kurti to shift the conflict from Belgrade to Brussels.

If you look at Kurt's statements today and his staff, they have a sense of pride in what happened and they continue to answer for Borell and Europe.

So not only is there no reflection on the spiral they're entering, but there is a clarity of their objective that the battle against Belgrade is won by defeating the West, thus automatically making Serbia's allied Europe.

So the drama isn't that a negotiation session fails. The drama lies in the fact that Kosovo's political leadership in power is treating the European Union Great Britain and the US as allies of Serbia. This approach legitimises them then so that the battle will not be held again with Belgrade, but with Brussels and Washington.

How do you see this Borell statement?

I think Albin Kurti has managed to deal with the paranoid approach that “West is the ally of Serbia”, is doing a favor to Serbia. He is hurting Kosovo in the face of his political support for a lie.

And every policy raised above falsehood and upon populist lies leads to blindness. To declare the ally West of Serbia, a state that has been shelling it because of Kosovo, and then to build political strategies as you can fight the West as an ally of Serbia, based on lies and paranoid is a folly stemming from clear populist intentions to enter history like the “Victimim” of the Western War on Kosovo.

On the other hand, this approach is dangerous for Kosovo, as even as a lie does a lot of work for Serbia, rehabilitates it in the eyes of the West and creates a positive image of the approach they have in dialogue.

Do you think there's going to be a passage of the situation Thursday, since Kurt pushed the fine of citizens with illegal license plates for 48 hours, where this postponement came due to US Ambassador Jeff Havener's request?

The West is offering Kosovo a plan that advances Kosovo into the international arena, as the German franc plan essentially has it, not preventing Kosovo from membership in international institutions. So it removes Kosovo's obstacle to non-recognition. Kosovo takes away Serbia's war in the international arena.

Now trying to reject this offer and run behind the license plates in the north to keep the conflict on, it's a Mexican attempt and it shows the profile of a local politician. Apparently Albin Kurt's only hope of entering history is to survive through permanent conflict, justifying failures in government, a politician who fears normalisation, and battles in a normal society.
