Loyal Bislimi the northern Serbs: You have the golden chance

Kosovo Government Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi has spoken today in an EU Office organisation for the meeting he had yesterday with special EU representative Miroslav Lajcak. Bislimi has said he has heard many dezinforms regarding his visit to Brussels, including allegedly meeting Petar Petkovic and reaching agreement [...]

Bislimi has said he has met with Petkov since July, writes KoSSev.

Bislimi has shown that “has elements of discussion on the possibility of exit from the crisis, but there is agreement”.

Kosovo's chief negotiator has spoken today even of elections in four municipalities in the north, wondering whether they will be legitimate.

When elections are held in the north, Besnik Bislimi has no right to vote because he does not belong to that community. There only citizens of that part vote and I think citizens are aware of the importance of channeling decision-making at the local level through their voice. This is the strongest democratic instrument with which he punishes or rewards someone”, Bislimi said.

Speaking on this issue, he has also cited the appearance of the Serbian List by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and their decision to boycott the upcoming local elections in the four northern municipalities.

He said the elections in these four municipalities consider it a “gold option” for Serbs to choose mechanisms that really promote community interests, not as he said, of specific clans.

Bislimi has said that as long as it is part of the government he has never met with Goran Rakiqiqi, meanwhile, he has added that the Serbian List has made no request for any project that protects or advances the interests of Serbs in Kosovo.

The Serbian <x0List has been part of institutions for years, I have been and am deputy prime minister, but with Mr. Rakiq I have zero meetings, zero demands for his projects to protect or advance the interests and zero Serbian List initiative in the Assembly. I think this is a golden opportunity for you to choose those mechanisms that really promote community interests, not the interests of certain clans, policymakers in Belgrade”, Bislimi said.

The government's number two has also spoken of claims that members of the Kosovo Police have physically attacked an NGO leader in the north.

It's wrong if we draw conclusions for a case that has no confirmation. What I know for sure is two things: First, Kosovo police have immediately contacted the border police on the Serbian side after being informed of whether there were concerns expressed by Mr. Miodrag after crossing the border. They said he didn't report anything. We know that police units that have gone north have strict orders to be very fair in dealing with every citizen because we know the extent of dezinformation and manipulation. The role of police in the north is great and citizens can react in such a way that the situation is tense”, Bislimi has said.

He has later stressed that Kosovo institutions are willing to take all measures, but only if such cases are confirmed.
