At the opening of the first Western Balkan summit against racial discrimination, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that through this summit, it is aimed at creating a practice of gathering key Balkan countries' acts in order to combat discrimination by Roma, Ashkali and Egyptist communities in order to improve and increase the quality of life of communities.
Kurti said institutional commitment is needed, but also social awareness.
He said there are still many challenges and the situation of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, not good in terms of discrimination but also poverty.
“As prime minister of all Kosovo citizens I engage for all equally and mostly for those most in need. The government will continue to improve economic conditions through inclusion. Our institutions remain committed to equal opportunities. One of the objectives remains the drafting and implementation of policy and legislation that meets the righteous and all citizens in the country.
Priority within the strategic goal is improving the situation of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities. Our government with all means will stand side by side with you for protection from discrimination”, Kurti said.
