In his letter, opposition leader Memli Krasniqi has said the situation in the northern part is disturbing, with the risk of escalation, while the epilogue is not clear. Read below Memli Krasniqi's full letter to Prime Minister Albin Kurti:
Honored Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, recent developments in municipalities in the northern part of the Republic of Kosovo, are very disturbing. The withdrawal from the duties and institutional responsibilities of the Communists, municipal ministers, police officials, justice system employees and public administration employees constitute an unprecedented act and creates a very problematic situation for the Republic of Kosovo. These actions violate the legal sovereignty of our country and the prosperity of public order. Furthermore, these developments threaten to bring all of Kosovo's state's achievements to zero in extending sovereignty and institutional integration of the Serb community into municipalities in the northern part of the country. In this situation, when the main pillars of normal functioning of northern municipalities are sabotaged and out of office, I consider that one of the basic tasks of the government today is to enable continued functioning of institutions and to continue implementing sovereignty in the entire territory of the country. Since the potential for escalation of the situation is eulogic, while the epilogue is not clear, I appreciate that co-ordination between the government and the opposition and harmonisation of institutional actions, including the Kosovo Assembly, is necessary. In this direction, too, I encourage you to devote meritive importance to consultations with international partners in the Republic of Kosovo. Kosovo needs responsible actions that preserve the stability of our state. In this case, I express to you the willingness of the Democratic Party of Kosovo to communicate openly and consistently about the situation created in the northern part of the country, as well as to help institutions continue exercising sovereignty in every part of our territory. Honestly, Memli Krasniqi Mayor
