In an interview for Hungarian military magazine“, the former commander of the NATO Peacekeeping Force in Kosovo, KFOR, Ferenc Kayari, told of tensions in the northern part of Kosovo.
As of February 24th of Russian aggression over Ukraine, Kayar indicated that the effects of war could be felt everywhere, especially in the field of communication.
In March, I consulted several times with government representatives to change this communication because it does not help maintain the security situation, as well as because it provoked tensions between the population”, Kayari said.
About shares of the Kosovo special police unit, Kayari said he had tried to persuade Prime Minister Albin Kurti “to use the police force in ways that do not bring clashes”.
My “proposal to the prime minister was to create some consensus-based police procedure, and I offered that if agreed, I would mediate between the leaders of Kosovo's local governments and the Kosovo Police”.
