The longest-lived prime minister in power, on trial for corruption charges he denies, is expected to take according to Israeli state television polls, 61 to 62 MPs, in parliament with 120 MPs.
Final results are expected to be announced later this week. These are the 5th elections Israel holds in less than 4 years, but despite citizens' fatigue from political problems, voter turnout was the highest since 1999.
Road security and price hikes were the focus of the election campaign between the two political rivals, Prime Minister Yair Lapid and former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
