The Institute for War Studies (ISW) announced in its latest report that Ukraine has the initiative on the battlefield and is on its way to achieving a major victory in the Kherson region.

In addition, the Ukrainian liberation of Kherson will not be Ukraine's last victory in war, according to the assessment of the Institute for War Studies.

ISW analysts predict fighting will continue not only in the south, but also around the town of Bakhmut in the eastern region of Donnetsk, the only country where Russian forces are still trying to attack and capture territory.

As for the northern region of Luhansk, Ukrainian forces continue to carry out a counterattack there, the ISW reported.

In his regular speech last night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said 41 settlements south of Ukraine have been released. He also stressed that an unnamed number of Ukrainian soldiers were killed in combat.

“Today we have good news from the south. But even though we are happy, now and forever we have to remember what this movement means, every step of our defence forces represents the lives given to the freedom of Ukrainian”, Zelensky said.

Ukrainian officials said earlier that only yesterday were 12 settlements released.

Russian soldiers abandon injured friends as they withdraw from Kherson, broadcast the Daily Telegraph.

“Russians withdraw to higher, fortified positions. But there is still fighting in populated areas. They're pulling back because they're losing a lot. Even wounded soldiers don't even take them with them, but left behind”, has told of the Ukrainian soldier Nicolai Telegraph.

Ukraine has confirmed that its forces have cleared “s of mined settlements and villages abandoned by Russian troops in southern Ukraine” as their forces approach the strategic city of Kherson.

In his night speech Thursday evening, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that “The Ukrainian flags have already been returned to their proper location”.

We have good news from the south of Ukraine. Forty-one settlements have been issued, he said.

As Ukrainian Defence Minister Olexey Reznikov said yesterday, it will take at least seven days for the Russian Army to withdraw from Kherson.

“Russia still has 40,000 soldiers in the region, and intelligence data shows its forces remain in the city and its suburbs. It is not easy to withdraw troops within two days”, he said.
