As a result of a 5.4 quake in the western Java province of Indonesia, the death toll has increased to 162, while at least 700 others have been injured.
According to the Meteorological Agency, Klimatology and Geophysics, the afternoon earthquake struck the western province's Cianjur city of West Java, while it also felt in the capital, Jakarta, and other regions, Anadolu wrote.
Earlier, officials of the National Agency for Disasters said the death toll would likely increase.
Meanwhile, Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the deepest <x0 recovery” for the earthquake in Indonesia.
“We express our heartfelt condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives as well as to the friendly and brotherly people and to the Government of Indonesia. We wish for quick recovery for the injured”, the Turkish ministry said in a statement.
