The former US president was banned from Twitter due to the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
Musk had rehabilitated several accounts Friday, but said he had not yet made a decision for former President Trump.
In about four hours, over 5 million users voted for the return of the former president.
Supporting the public rather than an internal monitoring body to decide whether to return Trump to Twitter, according to Musk's critics, is a controversial and dangerous choice. However, it is not clear whether Musk will decide on the basis of the poll results. “Vox populi, vox dei,” posted it in response to a Twitter post urging users to vote.
