The Standing Election Commission has decided to limit the spending of the election campaign to political subjects participating in the December 18th extraordinary elections in northern municipalities. By this decision, the CEC has defined the higher cost limit for subjects to be certified for participating in elections for northern Mitrovica municipalities, Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
This restriction rests on the Selective Rule No. 122013, under which limiting campaign spending will be 0.5 euros for registered voters in each municipality. The CEC's decision relied on non-final data on the voter list in these municipalities”, the CEC reportedly.
Consequently, according to the number of voters, in northern Mitrovica, political subjects will be allowed to spend up to 9,000 euros in Leposaviq over 6 thousand euros, while in Zvecan and Zubin Potok over 3 thousand euros.
So far, only one political subject has been presented to the Central Election Commission to be certified for participation in extraordinary elections in the north.
This is the political subject “Civic Initiative Mitrovica”, which ran for the position of North Mitrovica chairman.
Political subjects have yet another two days, until November 21st, to submit their demands for a certificate to the CEC.
The extraordinary elections in northern municipalities will be held on 18 December, with President Osmani's decision. These elections come as a result of the Serb List's resignation from the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo on 5 November, as a result of opposition to the Kosovo Government's decision to launch the process of reregistering Serbian vehicles with illegal license plates.
