The visa removal process for Kosovo citizens is expected to be discussed at this meeting.
At the meeting of the visa processing group at the EU Council, held on 13 October, French officials reportedly had demanded that the visa process for Kosovo be linked to functioning of the security system in Europe, ETHIAS.
After this meeting, European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo Violet von Cremon has said a visa liberalisation decision for Kosovo is expected to be made in mid-November, or early December. She hoped that this decision would be positive.
Von Croamon said he hopes no provisions will be established or that the visa liberalisation process will be linked to any new European Union methodology.
The decision will once be in mid-November or early December. But the question is whether it will lead to a new visa system, which would be completely unfair, or ultimately we will see a visa date”, the German Eurodeput said during a news conference in Pristina on 24 October.
The European Commission and the European Parliament have demonstrated full support for visa liberalisation for Kosovo. The European Commission has confirmed that Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria needed by the guide for visa liberalisation and has recommended that visas be lifted for its citizens.
