The “found that an attacker woman exploded the bomb. The event is being investigated and necessary assessments are being made. So far we've lost six people, four of them at the attack point. We got 81 wounded. Investigations at the scene follow quickly. We'll get to the bottom soon. Anyone behind will be held accountable”, Oktai said.
It is thought that six people have lost their lives in the explosion that rocked today at 16:20 on the most frequent pedestrian route in downtown Istanbul, at an event President Recep Tayip Erdogan called a bomb attack that “smells of terrorism”.
“Efforts to defeat Turkey and the Turkish people through terrorism will fail today as they have failed in the past, as they will again fail in the future”, Erdogan said at a press conference before heading to Indonesia to attend the G20 summit.
